Women’s Institute Centenary Meeting

Last month saw us welcome 1,500 members of the Women’s Institute to our 30,000 sq ft Hangar ’42 venue for their centenary meeting. The layout was simple yet elegant, and of course proceedings opened with the obligatory singing of Jerusalem.

Hangar ’42 was spilt into two event spaces. The plenary for 1,500 was draped into one section of the event space, whilst behind this draping lay a host of stalls selling everything from jewellery to chocolates. The day played host to three speakers who were all well received by attendees, Lady Gretton, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, RAF Pilot Mandy Hickson and Edwina Curry.

A break in the day allowed guests to move from the plenary area, through the draping to peruse the stalls and enjoy a spot of lunch and even a Ladies Garland Dancing Team. This event was a fantastic celebration for the Women’s Institute and a great day for all attendees.
