VE Day 75th Anniversary Celebrations Land At Bruntingthorpe Events

As the day dawns on 8th May 2020 we will be marking 75 years since the end of the war in Europe, the 75th VE Day anniversary. As six years of intense war came to an end, with the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany’s armed forces, the streets were abuzz as millions of people celebrated peace and expressed hope for the future.

The 75th anniversary provides us the opportunity to reflect on the enormous sacrifice and courage of this generation. Bruntingthorpe Airfield was an operational training base throughout World War II. As a mark of this momentous anniversary Lutterworth Rotary presents: VE Day 75th Anniversary Celebration at Hangar’42, Bruntingthorpe.

On both the 8th and 9th of May 2020 we’ll be looking to recreate that victory spirit, by hosting the ultimate indoor street party, held in our specialist event centre, Hangar’42. From 1930 – 0030 the Hangar will be celebration central for the region with musical performances that’ll take you right back to the Glenn Miller days, you won’t be able to resist ‘Doin’ the jive’. Attendees are encouraged to don their best era appropriate clothing and descend on the Hangar with picnics for a fun filled celebratory evening where all profits will be donated to chosen charities.

Tickets are available to be purchased for tables of ten at £250. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnics and drinks, but food hampers are available to pre-order and purchase at an extra cost if you prefer. A selection of beverages will also be available to purchase on the night.

All profits from the event will be donated to four chosen charities. Help for Heroes who provide lifelong support to Service Personnel and Military Veterans with injuries, illnesses and wounds sustained while serving in the British Armed Forces; Hope Against Cancer who support cancer research in the Leicestershire and Rutland area, funding research that leads to improved treatments; LOROS Hospice offering high quality care for people across Leicestershire and Rutland and Rainbows, the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, providing vital care and support to families impacted by life-limiting conditions.
